Bananas are Guatemala's stop export

Monday, February 18, 2019

While world prices of sugar and coffee slumped last year, bananas became Guatemala's top export, with record annual sales of $815 million.

Some 90 percent of the bananas were exported to the united States, though plans are afoot to increase sales to Britain, South Korea and Russia.

In addition the exporters have begun to make banana chips and the industrial waste from the fruit.
