Cargill, the leading US trader of agricultural commodities, is calling off new business with Reforestadora de Palmas del Petén, known as Repsa, a Guatemalan palm oil business that's been accused of human rights and environmental violations.
Minneapolis-based Cargill said it wouldn't enter any new purchase deals with Repsa until the Guatemalan firm can meet the “requirements of our sustainable palm oil policy."
