Carlos Slim’s Grupo Carso to open Sears store in El Salvador

Grupo Carso, controlled by the Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, aims to open a Sears department store in El Salvador, where it already has other retail interests.

Carso already has two department stores, Sanborns and Dorian’s, as well as the audio and video store Mix-Up, in El Salvador. The Sears store is expected to open soon.

Last year, Sears earned $1.5 billion from sales in Mexico.
