China takes over from Venezuela in Nicaragua trade

This year through October, China's export to Nicaragua topped $73 million, more than four times the $15 million of the same period of last year.

Venezuela used to be the number two destination of Nicaraguan exports, but no longer. And China seems to be filling the gap.

But Nicaragua, and Central America, has a very big trade deficit with China was $800 million last year, and for all of Central America, the deficit was $7.7 billion.
