Cigarette sales in Costa Rica plummet

Sales of cigarettes in Costa Rica plummeted 14 percent between 2012 and 2013, Costa Rican daily La República reported.
The figure represents sales that reached $119 million.
The drop comes as the country implemented a law that bans smoking in public places and raises tax on sales, which in turn has caused an increase in contraband tobacco.
