Companies fear Costa Rican witch-hunt

Companies in Costa Rica fear a witch-hunt if they report losses or zero profits to the tax authorities.

Following a Supreme Court judgement, the Finance ministry is obliged publish financial information as part of efforts to combat tax evasion.

Business leaders point out that companies that pay no taxes are not necessarily dodging them.
