Costa Rica concerned over image problems

The negative image in terms of security that was projected by the murders of two foreign women in beach resorts that reached viral proportions in social media could affect income in the high season for tourism that begins in November.

The government and the tourism authorities are concerned that progress must be made in generating a safe environment that can boost confidence in visitors to the country.

It is too early say whether the recent incidents have frightened away some tourists but an action plan has to be adopted in order to mitigate the impact of the incidents.
