Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras and Guatemala are leaders in trade with Europe

The European Union is Central America’s number three trading partner, with $12.5 billion last year, excluding production of the maquila, or in-bond, plants.
Costa Rica is in the leading exporter to the European Union, with $1.52 billion, followed by Panama with $680 million and Honduras $502 million.
Guatemala lies fourth with $307 million, followed by El Salvador with $212 million and Nicaragua with $178 million.
