Costa Rica presents its flexi-dollar

Tuesday, March 26, 2019

Investors in Costa Rica face a new era of flexibility in the currency markets, with the Central Bank reducing its control over movements.

Some recent changes have been sharp, moving from 596 colons to the dollar on Monday of last week to 613.5 on Friday.

The Central Bank has helped to reduce the abruptness of the movements by selling $12 million on Wednesday, $2 million on Thursday and $27 million on Friday, La República reports in Spanish.
