Costa Rica’s economic growth surges to 5.2 percent in first half despite fiscal headaches

Costa Rica’s gross domestic product rose by 5.2 percent in the first half of the year, compared to the same period of 2009- Income from tourism and non-traditional services contributed to the income.

Costa Rica’s government faces financial difficulties, with an estimated deficit equivalent to 4.8 percent. However, the former central bank governor Francisco Gutiérrez, has indicated that Costa Rica is soon going to be overcome the crisis.
