Costa Rican port strike will impact Nicaragua
Friday, October 24, 2014
The strike in the Costa Rican ports of Limón and Moín will have a “huge impact” on Nicaraguan exporters and importers unless it is soon resolved, said Rosendo Mayorga, president of the Nicaraguan Chamber of Commerce.
Shipping lines are sure to charge heavy penalties for failures to deliver cargoes on time, Mayorga said.
Insurance companies will not have to pay the charges, and higher costs will have to be passed on to consumers, he added.
