El Chaparral hydro scheme to cost $290 million

El Salvador’s state power company, CEL, announced renewal of the El Chaparral hydroelectric scheme with a price tab of $290 million, a third higher than the original estimate.

Work on the dam was suspended in 2010 after the Agatha storm, and the Italian building company abandoned the project.
