Guatemala has potential for wedding business

A group of wedding organizers and experts will travel to Guatemala in the first week of November to learn more about the country's potential as a destination for wedding events, the Guatemalan tourism institute said.

The potential is due to each wedding guest spending on average $1,620 during their stay in Guatemala, and the average number of guests are about 86, while a wedding in the country costs on average $18,400.

Every year, Guatemala's Mayan region hosts some 300 weddings.
