Honduras hydro dam seeks to boost communities

Tuesday, June 7, 2016

A Honduran consortium is building a $64 million hydroelectric dam in the northwestern part of the country with an eye toward laying the basis for the social development of marginalized communities in the zone.

The AguaZarca project is under construction in an area inhabited by indigenous groups living in extreme poverty in a country where 16.5 percent of the population gets by on less than $1.25 daily.
