Honduras makes inroads into business with China
Friday, August 3, 2018
Honduras has no diplomatic relations with Beijing, and it exported only $22 million in exports to China through May. At the same time, China exported $355 million in exports to Honduras.
But what is known as the China Hondu-Centroamericana Chamber is going to present a seminar, in Tegucigalpa on August 15 and in San Pedro Sula the following day, on doing business with China and participation in the Canton Fair.
The only Chinese companies with a significant presence in Honduras are the cellphone maker, Huawei, which has a staff of some 100 in its Tegucigalpa offices, and Sinohydro, which is nearing completion of the Patuca III hydroelectric scheme.
