Honduras plans new airport near Copan

A small airport will be built in Rio Amarillo, a district in western Honduras near the Copan Mayan archaeological site, President Juan Orlando Hernandez said.

The Rio Amarillo airport project was conceived several years ago as part of an effort to boost tourism in western Honduras, but construction has been delayed.

Meetings are planned with mayors in Copan to finalize the airport project, Hernandez said.
