Honduras shows big increases in volume and sales of bananas for export

The banana industry in Honduras ended the first half of 2010 with encouraging figures.
The export volume reached 13.7 million boxes of 40 pounds, up from the 11.5 million in January-June last year, according to the central bank.
The foreign exchange earned totaled $ 163.7 million, higher than the $148.8 million in the first half of 2009. International prices show a decline.
