Impunity will empower Costa Rica's trade unions
Monday, November 5, 2018
The strike by Costa Rica's public-sector workers has lasted for 50 days and, though its impact has waned, several unions, including the teachers', are maintaining their protest.
If the government is unable to impose sanctions on the strikers, their claims will gather resonance according to analysts, who challenge the effectiveness of the Labor Reform.
The law has failed to resolve illegal protest movements in several institutions and so has empowered them for the upcoming challenge of the Supreme Court's challenge to the strike.
