Maersk is ready to use Panama Canal
Wednesday, August 6, 2014
Maersk Line, the world's largest shipping firm, is ready to use the expanded Panama Canal, and is waiting for the construction of the proposed Nicaragua Canal to consider including it in its routes, said Antonio Domínguez, director of Global Sales for Latin America at Maersk.
He added that for Maersk, the Panama Canal expansion project is on schedule, as the delays have helped several ports prepare for the impact of larger vessels.
The expanded canal will be able to fit vessels carrying up to 12,000 containers, three times as much as the current ships.
