Mexico breaks its own record for remittances

Monday, February 4, 2019

Mexico broke its record on remittances last year, when they totaled $33.5 billion, some 10 percent more than 2017.

Because of fluctuations in the exchange rate, the increase in real terms was 13 percent, discounting inflation, according to Goldman Sachs.

The central bank reckons that 10 million Mexicans live overseas. Other sources, however, believe that the true figure could be considerably higher.
