Nicaragua eyes Mexican car production

Nicaragua is seeking to take advantage of Mexico's car manufacturing boom.

Mexico is aiming to make 4 million cars by 2016, a 27 percent increase compared with 2013.

The figure represents an opportunity for Nicaragua-based car cable harness producers such as Yazaki and Draexlmaier, said Rodrigo Labardini, Mexican ambassador in Nicaragua.

Cable harness exports are Nicaragua's leading manufactured products to Mexico, according to embassy figures.
