Nicaraguan economy grows 5.3 percent

Nicaragua's economy grew 5.3 percent in the first quarter this year, compared with the same period last year, the country's central bank said.

Growth was boosted mainly by internal and external demand, as well as an improved performance by the agricultural and manufacturing sectors.

The Nicaraguan economy will grow between 4.5 and 5 percent this year, according to government forecasts.
