Colombia's exports increased in April, driven by the oil and mining industries, extending a trend seen throughout 2011 and in the first months of 2012.
Exports for April rose 4 percent compared with a year earlier, to $4.88 billion, the government's statistics agency DANE said Wednesday. Exports of fuel and industrial fuel extracts jumped 16.4% from a year earlier.
For the January-April period, exports are up 17 percent. The U.S. was the destination for 40 percent of Colombia's exports, followed in order by Spain, China, Chile and Venezuela.
