Panama Canal contract to be concluded ahead of time

The consortium led by Spain’s Sacyr Vallehermoso will complete the contract of the Panama Canal’s extension by one year ahead of time.

However, the work will be formally concluded within a few weeks of the contract by October 2014 so that the ceremony will be ready to mark the centenary of the canal.

Of the $3.2 billion cost of the contract, the consortium has so far paid up $300 million.
