Panama Canal sees 200 cruise ships

Some 200 cruise ships are expected to travel through the Panama Canal for the current season, which runs from October this year to April 2015, the Panama Canal Authority said.

The world's major cruise firms, including Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, Celebrity Cruise Line and Norwegian Cruise Line maintain their offers to Panama, said Félix Ayarza, international trade specialist.

A new feature for this season is the inclusion of smaller cruise ships, such as the Tere Moana and the Wind Sprit, which offer seven-day trips to Central America's west coast.
