Panama draws transnationals as headquarters throughout Latin America
Thursday, June 17, 2010
Strong tax incentives and favorable migratory terms for foreign executives have attracted Panama City as one of the leading regional headquarters of multinationals in Latin America.
Companies that have set up their regional HQ in the small Panamanian capital include Procter & Gamble, Caterpillar, Adidas, Heineken, Dell and 3M. In addition, they include major Latin American companies, such as Cemex.
The arrival of the transnationals reflects strong investment flows that accounted 10 percent of Panama’s gross domestic product in 2009.
