Panama is region’s first country to be ‘rich’: World Bank

Panama is the first Central American country that the World Bank rates as being of high personal income, meaning more than $12,055 or more a year.
In the Bank’s latest ranking, Panama recorded $13,100 a year, on the basis of the Atlas system, which compensates for monetary fluctuations.
Other rankings throughout the region and its largest neighbors were: Costa Rica $11,040, Mexico $8,610, Colombia $5,830, Guatemala $4,060, Belize $4,390, El Salvador $3,560, Honduras $2,250 and Nicaragua $2,130.
