Thursday, October 9, 2014
Foreign investment in Panama's mining sector is expected to reach $10 billion by 2019, according to sector representatives.
Mining currently accounts for 2.5 percent of Panama's gross domestic product, but by 2018, the figure is seen reaching 10 percent due to the Cobre Panama copper project.
The investment for Cobre Panama is $6.5 billion, higher than the cost of the Panama Canal expansion works.
