Panama’s farm imports given welcome boost from European Union
Friday, June 11, 2010
Panama’s agricultural industry got a welcome boost this week when The European Union restored the preferential duty system (GSP plus) to the country's products.
Products will once again be able to enter Europe, starting July 1 through to December 3.
Panama lost this trade advantage in January 2009, because the authorities in Brussels failed to submit the application before the deadline, causing losses to the export sector estimated at $27 million.
