Panama's insurance market grows 10 percent

Panama's insurance market grew 10.4 percent in the first half of this year, compared with the same period in 2013, according to government data.

The number is in line with Panama's economic growth, said Pablo de la Hoya, president of insurance firm Acerta Seguros.

As long as Panamanians' purchasing power continues to grow, insurance firms will have a stronger presence in the market, he added.
