Panama’s million-dollar magnet for new business
Wednesday, July 21, 2010
Panama continues to be a magnet for business investment. In the first half of this year, investment rose to $1.1 billion, a 19.4 percent increase over the same period of last year.
During the first half of the year, some 14,000 new businesses were launched, up from 10,000 a year earlier.
Aristides Hernández, an economist from Latin Consulting, said the number of new businesses reflects a stable economy, though it does not necessarily mean more jobs.
