Panama takes regional crown for competitive economy

Central American countries are making progress on making their economies more competitive, according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report for 2010-2011.

 

Among the highlights were Panama, which rose by six points in the rising, and Nicaragua, up by seven points.

 

Costa Rica was described as “pretty stable” despite having slipped a place in the ranking, while El Salvador lost three places. Panama’s increase puts it into the top place in Central America, a titule previously occupied by Costa Rica.
