PriceSmart extends retail and logistic operations

PriceSmart, the largest operator of U.S.-style membership shopping warehouse clubs in Latin America and the Caribbean, last week announced plans for a regional distribution facility in Costa Rica., to be built and operated by LatAm Logistic Properties.

PriceSmart at the same time opened its seventh retail outlet in Costa Rica.

Expected to start operations in mid-2018, the 16,000 square meter logistics center is located in Coyol, next to Juan Santamaría International Airport.

United States-based PriceSmart Inc. has some 800,000 membership accounts and 1 million cardholders in the region.

With its new Costa Rican outlet, PriceSmart has 23 stores in Central America, including five in Panama, three in each of Guatemala and Honduras, and two each in El Salvador and Nicaragua.

LatAm’s Parque Logistico in Coyol currently leases over 50,000 square meters to clients, including Expeditors, Mabe and Kraft-Heinz.
