South Korea seeks support from Martinelli in efforts to boost ties with Panama

President Lee Myung-bak of South Korea and his visiting Panamanian counterpart, Ricardo Martinelli, agreed to boost partnership in the development of resources and infrastructure.
They also investigated the possibility of Korea participating in the project to expand the Panama Canal.
Regarding Panama’s plan to develop mines, Martinelli vowed to make efforts to facilitate the advancement of competitive foreign businesses, including Korean companies, into the mining industry through the speedy revision of relevant laws.
