United States reviews social aid programs for Guatemala over people-smuggling fears

The US government is reviewing plans to continue $126 million a year in aid for social projects in Guatemala.
The doubts have emerged over an evaluation of the Guatemalan government’s efforts to protect victims of people-smuggling.
People-smuggling is a highly profitable occupation for Guatemala’s organized crime gangs.
