Video streaming is booming in Costa Rica

Costa Ricans have more than 10 video streaming options, with the arrival in the market of Acorn TV and Movistar Play.

The newcomers join Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, HBO GO and Fox Play, which are vying for market share with traditional outlets. Their strongpoints lie in original series, and movie sequels, both their own and those of other producers.

The combination of streaming with cable TV is the latest trend. Experts say that a generational change in technology lies behind the streaming market.
