Wages are biggest item in Panama budget

Thursday, July 28, 2016

Panama Finance Minister Dulcidio De La Guardia explained that the biggest increase in spending in the 2017 budget is from salaries, which will total $4.2 billion, a 13 percent increase over the previous year.

The increase is explained partly by the special laws that force the government to adjust the wages of public employees in sectors such as health, education and security.
