Monday, October 10, 2011
Retailer Wal-Mart, with $3.65 billion, has overtaken Mexico-based cellular operator América Móvil as number one in the list of the top 100 companies with sales in Central America and the Caribbean.
The Estrategia & Negocios magazine that compiles the list, says the top companies recorded revenue of $43.27 billion last year, some 29.4 percent of the region’s gross domestic product.
Last year was a good one for the region’s leading companies. Only 13 of the 100 reported a drop in income.
