Walmart competitors in Costa Rica invest $80 million to boost competition

Walmart has made clear its aims to invest $160 million in Costa Rica and the rest of Central America.
Now the US chain’s competitors are formulating strategies to counter Walmart’s muscle with investments of their own totaling $80 million.
Auto Mercado, Grupo Empresarial de Supermercados (GESSA) and Corporación Megasuper are aiming to boost their presence and defend their niches.
