Weather phenomenon threatens to arrive in Central America

The weather phenomenon known as El Niño is likely to strike Central America in July this year, according to regional weather authorities.
El Niño causes temperatures in the Pacific ocean to rise, which in turn causes drought or excess of rain.
The phenomenon could affect the region's agriculture and energy, with countries such as Panama and Honduras already reporting low levels of water at their hydroelectric plants.
